The Caravel Foundation Limited is a private Hong Kong registered charity with a focus on education and healthcare for underprivileged children, primarily in Hong Kong, India and China. Through the Foundation, those of us at Caravel seek to provide care, education and opportunities to disadvantaged young people, equipping them to become the productive and successful citizens of tomorrow. In addition to providing funding through the Foundation to carefully selected charities, the Caravel Group encourages its employees to become engaged in their activities as volunteers.

Charitable ventures currently supported by the Foundation are:

City University of Hong Kong

Sharing the same vision with the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), and with the same strong belief in the transformational impact of education, the Caravel Foundation has been devoting extensive efforts to supporting education and grooming the next generation for a brighter future. Over the years, the Caravel Foundation has been a close partner with CityU in various ways, from nurturing leaders of tomorrow, advancing knowledge with research discoveries, to supporting the Indra & Harry Banga Gallery (formerly known as the CityU Exhibition Gallery) by fostering its long-term development in driving innovation, enhancing the integration of art and science, and preserving cultural heritage for the world.

University scholarships

The Foundation funds scholarships for deserving students at three of the most respected higher education institutions in the United States – Dartmouth College, Duke University and Princeton University.

Project WeCan

The Foundation is a corporate partner of this Business-in-Community initiative. The program works with participating schools in Hong Kong to provide disadvantaged students with opportunities and care to empower them for pursuing higher studies and future careers. Using an ‘adopt a school’ model, Project WeCan is an open platform where each school is coupled with a partner in a multi-year collaboration for providing financial and volunteer support. The Caravel Foundation has adopted the Salesians of Don Bosco Ng Siu Mui Secondary School in Kwai Chung, and is sponsoring a large infrastructure project to renovate the school as well as multiple events for the students planned for 2019 and beyond. Caravel Group employees have participated in mock interviews and arranged ship visits for the School’s students.

Caravel Group employees have also organized sporting activities for them. From sleeping on the streets, where they are at risk of exploitation, Future Hope transforms the lives of these children by helping them to grow into independent, self-supporting members of society.
